Abstract

Polyesters containing nonlinear-optical chromophores, which have mean molecular weights M.sub.w of from 5000 to 500,000 and contain units of the formula (I) ##STR1## where A is a divalent radical, PA1 D is an electron donor, PA1 G is a heterocyclic ring as electron acceptor, PA1 x and y are identical or different numbers, PA1 m and n are identical or different numbers, and PA1 R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are identical or different radicals, are suitable, for example, as components in communications technology.
