Abstract

A hydroxy group-containing aryl triazine ultraviolet absorber represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein the R moiety of the OR group is a linear or branched aliphatic alkyl group containing 3 carbon atoms substituted by one or more alkoxy groups of 1 to 12 carbon atoms, said moiety being further substituted by one or more hydroxy groups, and PA0 wherein R.sup.19, R.sup.20, R.sup.21, R.sup.22, R.sup.23, R.sup.24 and R.sup.25 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 12 carbon atoms, sulfonic, halo, carboxy, haloalkyl and acrylamino.
