Abstract
An agent for increasing secretion of somatostatin or inhibiting decrease of secretion of somatostatin which comprises as an active ingredient a carbostyril compound of the formula: ##STR1## or a salt thereof, which is useful for treating diseases associated with the decrease of somatostatin such as esophagitis, Alzheimer's disease, etc.
