Abstract
The invention relates to the use of nucleus-brominated phthalic acid derivatives, optionally in combination with polyalkylene oxides corresponding to formula (V) ##STR1## in which R is H, C.sub.1-6 alkyl, tetrahydropyranyl or a silyl group, PA1 R' is H or C.sub.1-6 alkyl and PA1 x is an integer of 1 to 100, for stabilizing thermoplastic polycarbonates against the effect of .gamma.-rays.
