Abstract
6-Amino-nicotinonitriles of the formula ##STR1## can be prepared by reacting methylene-glutacononitriles of the formula ##STR2## with nitrogen compounds of the formula EQU R.sup.1 --NH.sub.2 (III) at 0.degree. to 200.degree. C. in the presence or absence of an inert solvent. The ratio of nitrogen compound to glutacononitrile is 1 to 100:1. The substituents R.sup.1 and R.sup.4 have the meanings given in the description.
