Abstract
Mercerization wetting compositions comprising a compound of the formula ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is hydroxyl or --SO.sub.3 M, PA1 R.sub.2 is C.sub.4 -C.sub.18 alkyl, PA1 M is an alkali metal, PA1 n is 0 or 1, and PA1 m is from 2 to 6 are described. The mercerization wetting compositions of the invention are high-wetting and low-foaming. Moreover, the compounds are readily biodegradable.
