Abstract
A process for the preparation of amines by catalytic hydrogenation of nitriles in the presence of a nickel-containing support catalyst. The support catalyst contains Mg and Ni in coprecipitated form and in a molar ratio of 0.0075 to 0.075:1. There is 17 to 60 g of a water-insoluble support per mol of nickel, and 65% to 97% of the BET total surface area of the support catalyst is formed by pores having a radius r.sub.p .ltoreq.2.5 nm.
