Abstract
Gear oil compositions are described which comprise a lubricating base oil having dissolved therein: PA1 (A) at least one phosphite ester characterized by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are hydrocarbyl based groups of from 1 to 30 carbon atoms and PA1 (B) at least one metal overbased composition. Another embodiment of the invention comprises the above-mentioned (A) and (B) with PA1 (C) a sulfurization product of an aliphatic olefinic compound containing from 3 to 30 carbon atoms.
