Abstract

Xanthines of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group: PA1 R.sub.2 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group; PA1 R.sub.3 tetrahydropyran-4-yl or 1,3-dithiolan or; PA1 R.sub.3 represents one of the groups of formula ##STR2## and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. These are adenosine antagonists, capable of acting as cholinomimetics, useful for the treatment of CNS disorders such as senile dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
