Abstract

A formaldehyde-free binding, impregnating or coating composition comprises PA1 A) a polymer constituted to from 2 to 100% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated acid or anhydride as comonomer, and PA1 B) at least one polyol selected from a triazine of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 to R.sup.3 are each independently of the others a radical X[(C.sub.m H.sub.2m O).sub.n H] or N[(C.sub.m H.sub.2m O).sub.n H].sub.2 where X is NH, O or S, m is from 2 to 5 and n is from 1 to 10, a triazinetrione of the formula ##STR2## where R.sup.4 to R.sup.6 are each independently of the others a radical [(C.sub.m H.sub.2m O).sub.n H] where m is from 2 to 5 and n is from 1 to 10, a benzene or cyclohexyl derivative of the formula ##STR3## where R.sup.7 to R.sup.9 are each independently of the others a radical [X(C.sub.m H.sub.2m O).sub.n H], a radical N[C.sub.m H.sub.2m O).sub.n H].sub.2, a radical [Y(C.sub.m H.sub.2m O).sub.n H] or a radical [(C.sub.m H.sub.2m O).sub.n H] where X is NH, O or S, Y is bivalent C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl or acyl, m is from 2 to 5 and n is from 1 to 10, and a compound of the formula ##STR4## where R.sup.10 to R.sup.12 are each independently of the others a linear or bra…
