Abstract
A method is disclosed for producing, in a continuous throughput, high quality paper from recycled waste paper utilizing high consistency, low shear pulping, followed by a series of cleaning steps to produce a wet, friable pulp which is digested and optionally bleached. The resulting pulp can be run on a paper machine alone or blended with virgin pulp to produce a paper containing at least 10% by weight recycled paper with less than 20 ppm per unit area solid non-fibrous contaminants larger than 0.3 mm.sup.2, and which may be blade coated on a high speed paper machine.
