Abstract
A method for catalyzing the blowing reaction and making polyurethane foams employing a catalyst composition consisting essentially of a hydroxy-functional imidazole of the following formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl; R.sup.2 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl and R.sup.3 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 organic group optionally having an ether functionality, provided that when R.sup.1 is methyl, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are not both hydrogen or a hydrogen and a methyl, in combination with a boron compound of the formula EQU R.sub.n B(OH).sub.3-n where n=0 or 1, and R=C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl, or C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl.
