Abstract

Water-dilutable dispersions of acrylate copolymers having a hydroxyl number of from 40 to 200 mg KOH/g and an acid number of from 15 to 50 mg of KOH/g, obtained by free-radical copolymerization of PA1 a) from 5 to 40 parts by weight of at least one glycidyl ester of an .alpha.-branched aliphatic saturated monocarboxylic acid, PA1 b) from 0 to 30 parts by weight of at least one diester of an .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, PA1 c) from 0 to 70 parts by weight of at least one vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon, the molar quantity of component c) always being greater than or equal to the molar quantity of component b), PA1 d) from 0 to 60 parts by weight of an alkyl ester of an .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid, PA1 e) from 2 to 40 parts by weight of at least one .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid, the molar quantity of component e) always being greater than the molar quantity of component a), PA1 f) from 5 to 40 parts by weight of at least one hydroxyalkyl ester of an .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid, the polymerization being carried out in bulk or in solution; if desired, addition of a water-dilutabl…
