Abstract

Azo dyes of the formula EQU W(--X--Y--Chr).sub.n, where PA1 n is 2 to 6, PA1 y is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkylene, PA1 Chr is the radical of a mono- or polyazo dye, PA1 X is a radical of the formula CO--O or O--CO and PA1 W is an n-valent radical which is derived from an unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.2 -C.sub.20 -alkane, an unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.4 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkane, an unsubstituted or substituted benzene or an unsubstituted or substituted naphthalene, or, if n is 4, is also silicon, and their use in nonlinear optics or for dyeing or printing textile materials are described.
