Abstract
An ion sensitive compound has the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each independently hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, an alkylamido group, an arylamido group, an alkylsulfonamido group, an arylsulfonamido group or a nitro group; PA1 R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are each independently a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group; PA1 X is Fe or Co.sup.+ ; PA1 Y is a counter anion; and, PA1 n is 0 or 1. Such compounds can be used for sensing anions.
