Abstract
Thrombin inhibitors are provided which have the formula ##STR1## wherein Z is a thrombin inhibitor substructure containing distal and proximal binding site residues; and PA1 R.sup.1 is cyano, hydroxyl, alkoxy, amino, aminoalkyl or nitro.
