Abstract
An apparatus including an angle determining device for determining a desired value of the vehicle rear-wheel steering angle, on the basis of the actual front-wheel steering angle and vehicle speed, so that the rear-wheel steering angle is changed by an actuator operated according to the determined desired rear-wheel steering angle. The apparatus further includes a control device which controls a change in the rear-wheel steering angle which depends from the vehicle speed, such that the change is smaller in the steady state of the vehicle steering wheel, than in the transient state of the steering wheel. The steady or transient state is determined from a rate of operation of the steering wheel obtained by a suitable device.
