Abstract
Method of determining variations in the morphology of a borehole. It consists in measuring, as a function of the depth of the borehole, the dip and the azimuth (a.sub.1) of the borehole, the inside diameters of the borehole in two perpendicular directions, and the azimuth (a.sub.2) of a reference caliper and it is characterized in that consists in determining the eccentricity (e.sub.m), together with an eccentricity error (.DELTA.e.sub.m), the azimuth (a.sub.3) of the second caliper from the azimuth (a.sub.2), and the rotation speed (V.sub.R) of the reference caliper, and then comparing (.DELTA.e.sub.m) to a threshold value (.DELTA.e.sub.s) and (V.sub.R) to a threshold value (V.sub.S ) to determine the type of ovalization of the borehole.
