Abstract

A photographic material is disclosed containing on at least one side of the support at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer characterised in that the light-sensitive layer and/or at least one non-light sensitive layer in water-permeable relationship with the light-sensitive layer comprises at least one compound having the general formula (I) EQU R[O--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --S--(LINK.sup.1 --S).sub.x --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O--(LINK.sup.2)].sub.y --OR (I) wherein each of LINK.sup.1 and LINK.sup.2 which may be the same or different represents a divalent linking group; R represents H, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group or an acyl group; x is 0, 1 or 2, and y varies from 2 to 20.
