Abstract

The invention relates to a (co)polymerization process in suspension for preparing hydrogen containing thermoplastic fluoropolymers, such as for instance ethylene/chlorotrifluoro-ethylene or ethylene/tetrafluoroethylene copolymers, or vinylidenefluoride homopolymers or copolymers, wherein bis-dichlorofluoroacetylperoxide (CFCl.sub.2 --CO--O).sub.2 (DCFAP) is used as polymerization initiator. From such process products endowed with high thermal stability, remarkably higher than that obtainable using bis-trichloroacetylperoxide (TCAP), are obtained.
