Abstract

A method of manufacturing a recording head for use in an ink jet head involves providing a discharge port formation member having a surface in which orifices are to be formed, treating a discharge port face of the discharge port formation member with a water-repellent material, and forming orifices by applying radiation from a pulsed laser beam to the discharge port formation member which has been treated by the material having a water-repellent property, so that forming the orifices creates byproducts. The method also involves sticking at least once a tape having an adhesive layer against the discharge port face of the discharge port formation member against at least peripheral portions of the orifices having the byproducts created in the orifice forming step sticking thereto and deposited therein, and peeling the tape therefrom.
