Abstract
A fuel composition comprising a major amount of hydrocarbons boiling in the gasoline or diesel range and an effective detergent amount of a compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrocarbyl group having an average molecular weight of about 400 to 5,000; and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, --CO.sub.2 H, --NO.sub.2, and --NR.sub.3 R.sub.4, wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently hydrogen or lower alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms; provided that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 cannot both be hydrogen.
