Abstract
A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus selectively excites a three-dimensional predetermined region called a slab and gives phase encode information and frequency encode information to magnetic resonance signals generated from the slab. Signals are acquired from a whole imaging region while the slab is slightly moved in a slice direction. The acquired signals are subjected to a Fourier-transformation in the slice direction. From the result of the Fourier transform, components acquired in the flat portion of the selective excitation characteristic are extracted. These signal components are arranged in accordance with the signal acquisition positions in the slice direction. Image reconstruction in the two remaining directions (the phase encode and the read directions) is then performed to obtain a final image.
