Abstract

The invention relates to a thermoreversible process for the preparation of a hydantoin comprisng PA1 (a) reacting an unsaturated polyester with a monofunctional amine to yield a poly(ester aspartate), and PA1 (b) reacting said poly(ester aspartate) with an isocyanate to produce a poly(ester urea), and PA1 (c) heating said poly(ester urea) to form a hydantoin compound. The process is useful for the preparation of coatings.
