Abstract

An electrode material for a liquid flow-through type electrolytic cell comprising a separator interposed between a pair of collectors counter-opposing each other via a gap, and an electrode material installed in at least one of the flow paths of electrolyte solution formed between said collector and said separator, characterized by having at least one groove in a carbonaceous material sheet. According to the present invention, an electrode having less pressure loss at liquid flow, which permits easy handling, and which has high selectivity for electrochemical reaction and superior electrode activity can be obtained without impairing the fundamental property of an electrode material. The electrode material of the present invention is superior in liquid flowability and is capable of giving the electrolytic cell using this material as an electrode a high battery efficiency and a long service life.
