Abstract

A process for making ink jet inks, comprising the steps of: PA1 (A) providing a dispersion containing a pigment, a carrier for the pigment and as a dispersant sodium N-methyl-N-oleoyl taurate; PA1 (B) mixing the pigment dispersion with rigid milling media; PA1 (C) introducing the mixture of step (B) into mill; PA1 (D) milling the mixture from step (C) until the pigment particle size less than 1.5 .mu.m; PA1 (E) separating the milling media from the mixture milled in step (D); and PA1 (F) diluting the mixture from step (E) to obtain an ink jet ink having a pigment concentration suitable for ink jet printers.
