Abstract
The present invention relates to oil-in-water emulsions for the prevention of slime formation and for the reduction of microbial growth in water carrying systems. The emulsions comprise as component of the oil phase at least one of the following active substances: a saturated or unsaturated, open-chain normal or isomeric hydrocarbon having 8-30 carbon atoms. The emulsions have a proportion of the oil phase of 1 to 90 %-wt. and are used in an amount of 1 to 200 ppm and are free of toxic microbiocides.
