Abstract

The invention relates to an improved method for gel permeation chromatography and to support materials for this method based on hydroxyl-containing base supports onto whose surfaces polymers are covalently bonded, wherein PA1 a) the base support comprises aliphatic hydroxyl groups, PA1 b) the covalently bonded polymers are bonded to the support via a terminal monomer unit, PA1 c) the linear polymers comprise monomer units of formula II, PA1 d) the polymers are crosslinked by ether bridges ##STR1## in which R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently of one another are H or CH.sub.3, PA1 R.sup.4 is H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -alkyl and PA1 n is an integer between 1 and 5.
