Abstract
Novel substituted carbazole compounds of Formula I are active as melatonergic agents: ##STR1## wherein: R.sub.1 is C(O)R.sub.3 or SO.sub.2 R.sub.4 ; PA1 R.sub.2 is H or C.sub.1-6 alkoxy; PA1 R.sub.3 is C.sub.1-6 alkyl, (CH.sub.2).sub.n SR.sub.4, (CH.sub.2).sub.n OR.sub.4, (CH.sub.2).sub.n SO.sub.2 R.sub.4, or NHR.sub.4 ; PA1 R.sub.4 is C.sub.1-4 alkyl; and PA1 m is 1 or 2; and PA1 n is 1 to 4.
