Abstract
A process for the separation of a mixture of an ether, an alcohol and of hydrocarbons is described in which the mixture to be separated is introduced into a first distillation column from which almost all of the hydrocarbons are recovered overhead and the purified ether is recovered from the bottom; at least one phase is extracted as a side stream from the first distillation column and sent to a second distillation column from which the alcohol is recovered from the bottom and a mixture of alcohol, ether and hydrocarbons is recovered overhead and recycled to the first distillation column. This process is of particular use in separating mixtures of ethyl tertio-butyl ether (ETBE), ethanol and C.sub.4 hydrocarbons.
