Abstract

Spin finishes for synthetic filament fibers which contain a water-soluble polyether carbonate of the formula I: EQU R.sup.1 --O--((R.sup.2 --O--).sub.n COO--).sub.m R.sup.3 (I) in which R.sup.1 represents R.sup.4 (O--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --).sub.x O--CO--, CH.sub.3 --O--CO, CH.sub.3 --CH.sub.2 --O--CO, or hydrogen; R.sup.2 is a difunctional hydrocarbon radical containing 1 to 22 carbon atoms which may be saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched; R.sup.3 represents R.sup.4 (O--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --).sub.y ; R.sup.4 is a monofunctional hydrocarbon radical containing 1 to 22 carbon atoms which may be saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched; n is an integer of 1 to 100; m is an integer of 1 to 50; x is an integer or 11 to 100; and y is an integer of 11 to 100.
