Abstract

An austenitic stainless steel for press forming has considerably excellent deep drawability and bulging property as compared with those of the conventional one, which comprises C: 0.01-0.10 wt %, Si: not more than 1.0 wt %, Mn: not more than 3.0 wt %, Ni: 6.0-10.0 wt %, Cr: 15.0-19.0 wt %, Cu: 1.0-4.0 wt %, Al: 0.2-2.5 wt %, N: not more than 0.05 wt %, and if necessary, Mo: 0.03-3.0 wt % and B: 0.0010-0.020 wt %, and is adjusted to satisfy anyone of Ni equivalent: 21.0-23.0, crystal grain size number (N) of not less than 8, cleanness of 0.020%, low Si content and (C+N) amount .gtoreq.0.04.
