Abstract
Strong reducing chemicals are required by prior art to break disulfide bonds of hair structure in alkaline media. The disulfide bonds are responsible for holding the hair in set condition. This disclosure teaches a new means for breaking the disulfide bonds by use of Tris-(2-carboxyethyl) phosphine (TCEP) in a mildly acid solution. The essence of the specification is the breaking of disulfide bonds in an acid environment.
