Abstract

The present invention relates to the process for the preparation of a biodegradable polymer comprising diester units of the formula (III) EQU --(O)--CO--O--C(R.sup.1 R.sup.2)--O--CO--(O)--R.sup.3 !--; where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represents a hydrogen atom or a carbon-attached monovalent organic group or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together form a carbon-attached divalent organic group; m and n, which may be the same or different, are 0 or 1; and R.sup.3 is a carbon-attached divalent organic grouping.
