Abstract

N-Acyl-S-(2-hydroxyalkyl)cysteines, their preparation and their use as intermediates for the preparation of synthetic immunoadjuvants and synthetic vaccines. Compounds of the formula I ##STR1## in which the substances X, Y, R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 have the meanings mentioned, are suitable for the preparation of lipopeptides and lipoamino acids.
