Abstract
This invention provides an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding a mammalian betaine/GABA transporter, an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding a human betaine/GABA transporter, an isolated protein which is a mammalian betaine/GABA transporter, an isolated protein which is a human betaine/GABA transporter, vectors comprising an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding a mammalian betaine/GABA transporter, vectors comprising an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding a human betaine/GABA transporter, mammalian cells comprising such vectors, antibodies directed to the mammalian betaine/GABA transporter and antibodies directed to the human betaine/GABA transporter, nucleic acid probes useful for detecting nucleic acid molecules encoding mammalian betaine/GABA transporters and human betaine/GABA transporters, antisense oligonucleotides complementary to any sequences of a nucleic acid molecule which encodes a mammalian betaine/GABA transporter or a human betaine/GABA transporter, pharmaceutical compounds related to mammalian and human betaine/GABA transporters, and nonhuman transgenic animals which express DNA encoding a normal or a mutant mammalian or human betaine/GABA transporter.…
