Abstract

A composition and process for coloring keratin-containing fibers wherein the composition comprises: (a) an alkyl glycoside of the formula (I): EQU R.sup.1 --O--(G).sub.x --H (I) wherein R.sup.1 is a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl radical having from 12 to 16 carbon atoms, (G) is an anhydroglucose unit, and x is a number from about 1 to about 2.5; (b) an oxidation dye precursor; and (c) a water-based carrier.
