Abstract

Benzimidazole-isoindolenines of the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein A represents N or a cyanomethylene radical, PA1 R.sup.1 represents a saturated or unsaturated, optionally substituted aliphatic radical having 4 to 20 C atoms, in particular 5 to 8 C atoms, which is optionally interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms and PA1 R.sup.2 denotes hydrogen, halogen, in particular Cl and Br, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic oxyradical having 1 to 4 C atoms which is optionally substituted by C.sub.1 C.sub.4 -alkoxy, CN or NO.sub.2, R.sup.2 not being hydrogen if R.sup.1 represents n-butyl, are outstandingly suitable for dyeing fully synthetic or semi-synthetic high molecular weight substances, in particular fiber materials, such as polyester.
