Abstract
This invention relates to an aqueous coating composition comprising a stable dispersion of resin particles and a coalescing agent wherein the coalescing agent is an alkyl 3-alkoxypropionate having the structure: EQU R.sup.1 --OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 COO--R.sup.2 wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of an alkyl and a arylalkyl group wherein the sum of the carbon atoms of the alkyl and arylalkyl groups is 5 to 10, provided that R.sup.2 is not methyl.
