Abstract

The present invention relates to compositions containing PA1 A) 10 to 90 wt. % of one or more metal salts of long chain carboxylic acids corresponding to formula (I) EQU (M.sup.n+)X.sup.-).sub.n (I), PA1 wherein PA2 M represents a metal cation, PA2 x represents a C.sub.6 -C.sub.14 aliphatic and/or aromatic carboxylate and PA2 n represents an integer from 1 to 5, and PA1 B) 10 to 90 wt. % of a carboxylic acid ester corresponding to formula (II) ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic C.sub.14 -C.sub.22 residue and PA2 R.sup.2 represents a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group. The present invention also relates to a process for the production of these mixtures and to their use as drying agents (siccatives) in oxidatively drying coating compositions (lacquers).
