Abstract
Materials of formula (I) are provided, wherein X.sub.1 -X.sub.5 are independently selected from H, F, Cl, NO.sub.2, CF.sub.3, OR, R, SR, .paren open-st.CO-- or .paren open-st.CO-- where R is C.sub.1-15 branched or straight chain alkyl; provided that one of X.sub.1 -X.sub.5 is selected from .paren open-st.CO-- or .paren open-st.OC--; p is at least 2; W=single bond, phenyl, fluorinated phenyl, .dbd., .tbd., cyclohexyl, thiophene, CO, OC; T.sub.1, T.sub.2, T.sub.3, T.sub.4 are independently selected from H, F, Cl, NO.sub.2, CF.sub.3, OR, R, SR, where R is C.sub.1-15 branched or straight chain alkyl; g=0 or 1; X is selected from CO.sub.2 and OOC; n is selected from 1-5; m is selected from 1-20, Y is selected from O, S, CH.sub.2, CO.sub.2, OOC; Q is CH.sub.2 and when m is greater than 1 then non-adjacent CH.sub.2 groups may be substituted by O or S; rings A, B and C are independently selected from phenyl, cyclohexyl and pyrimidine and may be independently of each other substituted with at least one of Cl or F; linking groups A and B may be selected from single bond CO.sub.2, OOC provided that if ring B is not present then at least one of A or B is a single bond; Z is selected from CN, F…
