Abstract
The present invention provides a method for making a lithographic printing plate wherein an imaging element is image-wise heated by means of a thermal head. The imaging element comprises on a flexible support (i) an ink-repellant layer containing a cross-linked hydrophilic binder and (ii) an image forming layer comprising hydrophobic thermoplastic polymer particles dispersed in a hydrophilic binder. Subsequent to image-wise heating, the imaging element is developed with water or an aqueous liquid. Development may also be carried out on-press. Moreover, image-wise heating and development can both be carried out on press.
