Abstract
Organic pollutants in wastewaters are wet-oxidized by addition of pure oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas at temperatures of 80.degree. to 330.degree. C., under pressures of 1 bar to 200 bar and at a pH value below 7. For the wet oxidation process, iron ions and digested sludge or surplus sludge from a biological sewage treatment plant are added to the wastewater.
