Abstract
A catalyst for the (co)polymerization of ethylene is obtained by a process comprising the contact of the following components (A), (B), (C) and (D) in the respective molar ratios (1):(0.5-2):(0-25):(0-15): (A): a bivalent arene of titanium having the formula EQU Ti (.eta..sup.6 -arene)(AlR.sub.x X.sub.4-x).sub.2 ; PA1 wherein: "arene" indicates benzene, or benzene substituted with from 1 to 6 C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl groups; PA1 each X independently represents a chlorine, bromine or fluorine atom; PA1 R is a C.sub.1 C.sub.10 alkyl group, linear or branched; "x" is a number varying from 0.5 to 2.5; (B): a compound or a mixture of compounds selected from the group consisting of the chlorides or bromides of the metals titanium, zirconium, vanadium, hafnium, tin, germanium, cerium or osmium, in the oxidation state (+4), and antimony or vanadium in the oxidation state (+5), and the derivatives of these metals in said oxidation state with oxygenated binders wherein at least one oxygen atom is bound or co-ordinated to the metal; (C): an aluminum alkyl or halide of aluminum alkyl (D): an organic chloroderivative selected from: (a) di- or poly-chloroalkanes; (b) alkyl esters of aliphatic car…
