Abstract
An agent for prophylaxis or treatment of cataract, which comprises as an active ingredient at least one compound selected from a group consisting of a carbostyril compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a lower alkanoylamino-substituted lower alkoxy group, and the bond between the 3- and 4-positions of the carbostyril nucleus is single bond or double bond, or a salt thereof, 5-dimethylamino-1-4-(2-methylbenzoylamino)benzoyl!-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H- benzazepine and 5-hydroxy-7-chloro-1-2-methyl-4-(2-methylbenzoylamino)benzoyl!-2,3,4,5-te trahydro-1H-benzazepine, a method for prophylaxis or treatment of cataract using the same.
