Abstract
An apparatus for forming a metal blank into a formed body, including a die device including a first and a second die each of which is rotatable about a first axis line, a first roller which is rotatable about a second axis line parallel to the first axis line and which is movable toward, and away from, the die device, the first roller having a tapered outer surface which defines at one end thereof a taper angle of from 60.degree. to 80.degree., the tapered outer surface of the first roller being pressed against an original disklike base portion of the metal blank being rotated with the first and second dies about the first axis line, so that that one end of the tapered outer surface peels a portion of the original disklike base portion and an entirety of the tapered outer surface deforms the peeled portion into a tapered portion, and a second roller which is rotatable about a third axis line parallel to the first axis line and which is movable toward, and away from, the die device, the second roller having a cylindrical outer surface and being pressed against the tapered portion of the metal blank being rotated with the first and second dies about the first axis line, so that the s…
