Abstract

A fire protection material is provided for protecting electrical cables and components. The material comprises an endothermic-reactive insulating fibrous material including an inorganic endothermic filler which undergoes multiple endothermic reactions between the range 100.degree. C. and 750.degree. C.; inorganic fiber material; and an organic polymer binder. The weight ratio of endothermic filler to inorganic fiber is preferably in the range of 0.25 to 3.0. The fire protection material is in the form of semi-rigid or rigid board or may be moulded into sections.
