Abstract

This invention relates to the treatment of depression by administration of novel 3-(R.sub.n -phenyl)-1,4-dialkyl-1,2,4-triazolium salts of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is halogen, trifluoromethyl, C.sub.1-4 lower alkyl or C.sub.1-4 lower alkoxy, PA1 n is zero, 1 or 2, and PA1 R.sub.1 and R.sub.4 independently represent C.sub.1-3 lower alkyl; PA1 and A.sup.- represents a pharmaceutically acceptable anion.
