Abstract

The present invention relates to an aqueous coating composition containing prior to the reaction between components A) and B) PA0 A) 10 to 75 wt. %, based on the solids contents of components A) and C), of at least one dispersion or solution of a polyester polyol containing carboxylate and/or sulphonate groups, having a weight average molecular weight of 1,000 to 40,000, an OH number of 15 to 100 and an acid number of 2 to 40 based on all of the carboxylate, carboxyl and sulphonate groups, PA0 B) an ester-modified polyisocyanate having an average NCO functionality of 2 to 6 and containing 5 to 20 wt. % of ester groups (calculated as C.sub.3 O.sub.2, MW 68), 5 to 18 wt. % of isocyanate groups and 0 to 20 wt. % of chemically incorporated hydrophilic, nonionic groups, wherein the preceding percentages are based on the solids content of the ester modified polyisocyanate and PA0 C) 25 to 90 wt. %, based on the solids contents of components A) and C), of at least one physically drying, aqueous polyurethane dispersion containing carboxylate and/or sulphonate groups, wherein components A) and B) are present at an NCO/OH equivalent ratio, based on the isocyanate groups of component B) and t…
