Abstract
A detergent composition comprises from 1% to 80%, by weight, anionic surfactant and from 0.05% to 10%, by weight, divalent ion selected from the group consisting of magnesium ions, calcium ions, and mixtures thereof. The composition is formulated such that the pH of a 1% solution of the composition in water at 20.degree. C. is between 3.5 and 4.5.
